Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan recently shared his thoughts on his movie with Khushi Kapoor Loveyapa, working with Advait Chandan, and why love never goes out of style.
After his unconventional debut with the OTT release Maharaj, Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, is set to make his theatrical debut with Loveyapa. Paired with Khushi Kapoor, the film is a remake of the Tamil romantic comedy Love Today and is directed by Advait Chandan, known for Laal Singh Chaddha.
“Madhu (Mantena) sir told me he had the right to remake Love Today. The idea of a father asking to exchange phones hooked me instantly —it was fun and something completely new for me. Honestly, I was surprised they thought of me for the role, but that challenge made it even more exciting.
He credits his director for helping him bring the role to life. “Advait sir has this amazing ability to bring out the best in every actor. He really helped me find the right tone for my performance,” Junaid said.
Sharing his thoughts on the craft of acting, Junaid revealed his love for rehearsals. “I love doing lots of rehearsals. It helps me prepare and feel grounded in the character,” he said.
Khushi Kapoor, who stars alongside him, shared her view. “I enjoy rehearsals too, but only up to a point. It’s crucial not to overdo it, so you don’t lose the spontaneity of the performance,” she said.
On his idea of love, Junaid described himself as “old-school.” He said, “Love is timeless. The emotions are the same, even if the terms have changed. Things like situationships and red flags are just new ways to describe deep feelings that have always been there.”
With Loveyapa set to release later this year, Junaid and Khushi promise a heartfelt take on modern relationships mixed with a touch of old-school charm. This marks an exciting new chapter in Junaid’s acting journey.
