Urvashi Rautela temple in Uttarakhand: Urvashi Rautela has found herself at the centre of controversy again after she allegedly made some offensive remarks on the Badrinath temple in Uttarakhand. Urvashi Rauela is better known as a controversy creator in the film industry than as an actress who always speaks her mind (often without thinking).
This time Urvashi has, what it seems like, crossed the lines and made some statements in self praise using the name of one of the most revered temples in India. Urvashi Rautela’s remarks on the Badrinath temple have hurt religious sentiments of people including the priests of the temple who have demanded action against the actress.
Urvashi Rautela Temple In Uttarakhand
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, the Daaku Maharaj actor made remarks about the Urvashi Temple near Badrinath Dham that sparked outrage among local priests and residents.
“There is a temple in my name in Uttarakhand. If one visits Badrinath, there is a ‘Urvashi temple’ right next to it,” the actress claimed in the interview. When asked if people visit to seek blessings, she responded, “Ab mandir hai toh woh hi toh karenge (It’s a temple, they will do that only).”

Urvashi Rautela further stated that Delhi University students offer prayers and “even garland my pictures,” adding that they call her “Damdamamai.” She insisted, “I am being serious about it. It is true. There are news articles about the same too. You can read them.”
Badrinath Temple Priests Slam Urvashi Rautela
Local religious authorities have firmly denied the allegations. Bhuwan Chandra Uniyal, former religious officer of Badrinath Dham, told India Today that Urvashi’s claims were “misleading.” He clarified that the temple is dedicated to Goddess Urvashi from Hindu mythology and holds significance as one of the 108 Shaktipeeths.
“It is not her temple. Such statements are unacceptable, and the government should take strict steps against anyone making such claims,” Uniyal stated.
Urvashi Rautela Clarification On Urvashi Temple Controversy
On Saturday, the actor’s team released an official statement on her behalf, clarifying her statement. “Urvashi Rautela said that there is a temple in my name in Uttarakhand, not Urvashi Rautela’s temple. Now people don’t even listen to things properly; just hearing ‘Urvashi’ or ‘temple,’ they assumed that people worship Urvashi Rautela. Listen to this video properly and then speak (sic),” read the statement.
“It is essential that before making baseless allegations or derogatory comments against any individual, the facts are thoroughly verified. Everyone in society should treat each other with respect and understanding so that everyone’s rights can be protected (sic)” the statement concluded.
