Is Anurag Kashyap slowly becoming the new-age Ram Gopal Varma? That’s the question buzzing around after the filmmaker’s recent outbursts on social media, where he didn’t hold back in venting his anger at the government, the film industry, and even the audience. Known for his bold opinions and unfiltered language, Kashyap’s online persona is beginning to remind fans of his once-mentor RGV, who famously went from a cult filmmaker to a Twitter firecracker.

Anurag Kashyap Social Media Rants

Anurag Kashyap recently took the Phule controversy to his instagram where he lashed out at the CBFC, Modi government and the Brahmins for creating hurdles in getting films released (which seems fine). However, his uncontrolled and unfiltered voice on the internet seems to upset some of his own fans who now see him as turning into his mentor RGV.

“Dhadak 2 ki screening mein censor board ne bola, Modi ji ne india mein caste system khatam kar diya hai. Usi aadhar pe Santosh bhi india mein release nahin hui. Ab Brahmin ko problem hai Phule se. Bhaiya, jab caste system hi nahin hai to kahe ka Brahmin. Kaun ho aap. Aap ki kyon sulag rahi hai. Jab caste system tha nahin toh jyotiba phule aur Savitri bai kyon the. Ya toh aap ka brahmanism exist hi nahin karta kyon ki Modi jinke hisaab se india mein caste system nahin hai? Ya sab log milke sab ko chuhiya bana rahe ho. Bhai mil ke decide kar lo. India mein casteism hai ya nahi. Log chutiya nahin hain. Aap Brahmin log ho ya phir aap ke baap hain jo upar baithe hain. Decide kar lo,” said Anurag Kashyap in his recent Instagram post over the brahmin backlash and CBFC censorship on Ananth Mahadevan’s Phule movie.

Anurag Kashyap Tweet

Just a few hours after his instagram post, Anurag Kahsyap dropped another bold and provocative statement on X featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
“I have relocated cities.i have not left filmmaking . For all the people who think I am frustrated and gone . I am here and I am busier than shah rukh khan ( I have to be, I don’t make

As much money😂) I don’t have dates until 2028. I have five directorial hopefully coming out this year or may be three now and two early next year.”

“I have the longest IMDB and I am so employed that I say no to 3 projects a day. So pls go suck your own c@&₹ or if you are flexible enough lick your own a&&,” Kashyap wrote further.

To this tweet, some people started questioning whether it’s the unsettling feeling in Anurag Kashyap after moving to the south. “Take your time,” commented a user.

“You have relocated to the most sensible place for movies, be respectful, here you can’t run your mouth like you did in Bollywood,” said another user.

Anurag Kashyap has bombed the Hindi cinema fans when he announced that he is quitting Bollywood as he finds it too toxic and that he will move to the south film industry.

“Bro, I know you would be busy for the rest of ur life like ram gopal varma … but keep the quality of ur movies intact for new releases,” said someone.

Anurag Kashyap Ram Gopal Varma

While both Anurag Kashyap and Ram Gopal Varma built their legacies on gritty storytelling and a disdain for Bollywood’s glossy formula, their off-screen personas are starting to overlap in unexpected ways. RGV was once hailed as a visionary before his frequent rants, bizarre film choices, and unapologetic trolling took center stage. Now, Kashyap’s fiery posts, public feuds, and growing disillusionment with the system are drawing similar comparisons.

“He is turning into his mentor Ram Gopal Varma. his movies also lost that charm since bombay velvet, only Mukkebaaz was good but that was mostly because Vineet’s acting,” said a user on reddit.

Kashyap has never feared from speaking his mind. He has taken up major political and public issues personally and spoken on them. His views on the Phule movie censorship has received hate comments and abuses, he shared a screenshot on his instagram story.

Phule is an upcoming Hindi movie based on the life of social reformers Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule, highlighting caste issues in India. The movie was set to release on April 11, however, with the recent CBFC interventions, the movie has been postponed to April 25. Phule stars Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha.
