Unmarried Couples Not Allowed In OYO Anymore: OYO Revises Check-In Policies

Unmarried Couples Not Allowed In Oyo

Unmarried Couples Not Allowed In Oyo: OYO, the Indian hospitality chain, has implemented a new check-in policy for its partner hotels, starting in Meerut. As per the updated guidelines, unmarried couples will not be permitted to check in. Additionally, all couples, including those with online bookings, must now provide valid proof of their relationship during the check-in process.

Pawas Sharma, Region Head, OYO North India, stated, “OYO is committed to upholding safe and responsible hospitality practices. While we respect individual freedoms and personal liberty, we also recognise our responsibility to listen to and work with law enforcement and civil society groups in the micro markets we operate in. We will continue to review this policy and its impact periodically.”

OYO New Rules For Couples 2025

OYO has granted its partner hotels the authority to decline couple bookings at their discretion, taking local social norms into account. Currently implemented in Meerut, this new policy may be expanded to other cities depending on feedback, according to sources.

“OYO has received feedback in the past from civil society groups, especially in Meerut, urging action to address this issue. Residents from other cities have also petitioned for similar measures,” said individuals aware of the policy change.

OYO Policy Change For Couples

This initiative aligns with OYO’s broader strategy to position itself as a trusted and dependable brand catering to families, students, business travelers, religious pilgrims, and solo travelers. The company also seeks to encourage longer stays while fostering customer trust and loyalty.

As part of its nationwide initiatives, OYO has partnered with police and hotel operators to conduct seminars on safe hospitality practices. It has also blacklisted hotels suspected of engaging in unethical activities and taken measures against unauthorized establishments misusing its brand name.
