Alia Bhatt expressed her heartfelt congratulations to acclaimed filmmaker Payal Kapadia for receiving a prestigious nomination at the Golden Globe Awards for her remarkable film All We Imagine As Light. Payal Kapadia is nominated for the best director category Motion Picture category) at the 82nd Golden Globes awards for her film All We Imagine As Light. The film has also earned a nomination for best motion picture, non-English language.

In an instagram story, Alia Bhatt shared a video clip from the Golden Globes Award nominations. “History is yours,” wrote Alia. Payal Kapadia got nominated for the best director category for All We Imagine As Light.  American actress and The Office fame, Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut announced the nominations. 

The moment is legendary as this is the first time in the history of Indian cinema that a film got best director’s nominations in the award ceremony. Payal Kapadia makes India proud as she stands among some of the most esteemed filmmakers on the global stage. 

All We Imagine As Light is a 2024 film directed by Payal Kapadia. The film is about Prabha, a nurse residing in Mumbai, who seeks a place in the city where she and her roommate, Anu, can express their love freely. The two women embark on a journey to a serene coastal town, which transforms into a haven where their desires can flourish without restraint.

The film stars Malayalam actress Divya Prabha, award winning actress Kani Kusruti, Hridhu Haroon and Chhaya Kadam. 

Payal Kapadia’s film All We Imagine As Light has previously received global recognition by winning the Best International Feature at the 2024 Gotham Awards. The film, unfortunately was not selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars, but won hearts of acclaimed filmmakers, critics and the audience.
