The Air India Flight Crash tragedy AI 171 near Ahmedabad has left the entire country shocked and heartbroken. Over 240 lives were lost in the tragic accident. Many Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Sunny Deol, have expressed their grief and offered condolences to the families of the victims.

Taking to social media, Shah Rukh Khan wrote, “Absolutely heartbroken with the news about the crash in Ahmedabad… my prayers for the victims, their families and all affected.”

Bollywood Actors on Air India Flight Crash

Leading stars took to social media to share their shock and prayers, highlighting the collective sorrow felt nationwide.

Akshay Kumar tweeted, “Shocked and speechless at the Air India crash. Only prayers at this time.” His message reflected the somber mood across the industry as many events and promotions were paused out of respect.

“Devastated by the news of the plane crash in Ahmedabad. Praying with all my heart for survivors — may they be found and receive the care they need. May those who lost their lives rest in peace, and may their families find strength in this unimaginable time,” said Sunny Deol

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn too expressed shock over the Air India Flight crash tragedy, “The news about the Air India crash is truly heart-breaking. Praying survivors are found and for those who’ve lost….may strength reach them.”

Other notable celebrities including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Aamir Khan, Allu Arjun, and Sonu Sood also shared their condolences and prayers. Alia Bhatt shared her condolences to the affected families saying, “…my heart aches for all the passengers and crew.”

How did the Ahmedabad Plane Crash happen?

On June 12, 2025, a devastating Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Flight AI171, crashed shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The flight, en route to London Gatwick Airport, carried 242 people, including 230 passengers, 10 cabin crew members, and 2 pilots. 

The crash occurred in the densely populated Meghani Nagar area, tragically hitting the residential quarters of doctors from BJ Medical College. The cause is suspected to be a defect in the automated flight control software, which malfunctioned and led to the rapid loss of altitude shortly after takeoff.

Air India Plane Crash Death Toll

Rescue teams have recovered around 206 dead bodies so far with the Air India flight crash death toll expected to rise. Miraculously, only one passenger named Ramesh Vishwas Kumar survived the Ahmedabad plane crash. In a viral video, this Air India plane crash survivor is seen walking away from the wreckage before being hospitalized. He reportedly jumped out of his seat 11A. 

Speaking to the news agency ANI, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik said, “The police found one survivor in seat 11A. One survivor has been found in the hospital and is under treatment. Cannot say anything about the number of deaths yet. The death toll may increase as the flight crashed in a residential area.”

The incident has sent shockwaves across India, especially in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state. The airport has been closed indefinitely, and officials are conducting a thorough investigation. The Tata Group has announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the families of the deceased.
