Udit Narayan Controversy: Renowned Bollywood singer Udit Narayan is facing legal trouble after a video of him kissing a female fan went viral. In addition, his first wife, Ranjana Jha, has filed a case against him, accusing him of financial misconduct and abandonment.
Udit Narayan First Wife Ranjana Jha’s Claims
Ranjana Jha alleges that Udit Narayan took Rs 18 lakh from the sale of her land and has neglected her despite her poor health. She says she is also being followed by goons whenever she visits Mumbai, making her fear for her safety.
Udit initially provided her with Rs 15,000 per month for maintenance, later increasing it to Rs 25,000 in 2021. He also gave her property worth Rs 1 crore and other assets, including land and jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh, which she later sold.
On February 21, 2025, Udit appeared in the Supaul Family Court and refused a settlement. He accused Ranjana of trying to extort money from him. This case follows a previous complaint she filed with the Bihar Women’s Commission, which had led to a settlement. However, she is now seeking further financial support.

Udit reportedly married Ranjana Jha in 1984 before moving to Mumbai. He then secretly married Deepa Gahatraj in 1985. In 2006, Ranjana publicly revealed their marriage, which Udit initially denied. He later admitted it and agreed to support her financially.
Despite his promises, Ranjana claims he abandoned her after becoming famous and did not fulfill his commitments. She had earlier approached the Bihar Women’s Commission, where Udit assured her of financial aid, including a flat, but she says he backed out later.

Adding to his troubles, a video recently surfaced showing Udit kissing a female fan during a live performance of Tip Tip Barsa Pani. The incident sparked backlash, with many calling his behavior inappropriate.
With legal and personal controversies piling up, Udit Narayan is in the spotlight for reasons beyond his singing career. His next steps in court will determine how this situation unfolds.
