Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure have been together for more than 40 years. From their earlier interactions, we came to know that their families were strongly against their relationship, due to which they had to do a court marriage in 1982.
Shakti Kapoor And Shivangi Kolhapure Marriage
In an episode of the YouTube show Timeout with Ankit, Shakti Kapoor shared the story of how he and Shivangi kolhapure first crossed paths on the sets of Kismat. Shakti Kapoor recounted how Shivangi was portraying the role of a child artist, while Shakti was cast as a more older character.
“I met her. She was a child artiste, and I was playing an older character in the film. She is 12 years younger than me. We met, fell in love, and I thought to myself, ‘Where will I find such a homely and beautiful girl?’ One day, I told her that my work was getting disturbed, and I needed to focus. She got very angry,” he said.
Shakti Kapoor Begged His Wife To Quit Acting
Despite the 12 years age difference between them, destiny brought them together and their bond gradually deepened into love.They met, they fell in love.
“I went to her and begged her. I apologised and told her I wanted to marry her. I also said that I wanted her to be a housewife. We had a court marriage. After that, everyone accepted our union. She gave up her singing career and everything else for me. To this day, I fold my hands and thank her for that,” Shakti added.
The couple eloped and got married when their family opposed them. Their families accepted Shakti and Shivangi’s marriage only after their first child Siddhant was born. Shivangi chose to leave her acting and singing career behind.
