Virat Kohli might never have issued an official clarification if eagle-eyed fans had not noticed Kohli’s heart reaction on Avneet’s beautiful (and hot) picture. So here’s what happened, Virat Kohli liked a picture of influencer and actor Avneet Kaur, posted on her fan page. The actress has also shared the image on her official instagram account.
The fan page admin noticed and it became a ‘thing.’ Soon after, memes flooded on social media compelling Kohli to look into the matter. An embarrassed Kohli issued a clarification on his instagram story saying, “‘d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it.”

While Kohli quickly clarified it was just a harmless slip of the thumb, Reddit users weren’t buying it. What followed was a meme-fest of epic proportions, with theories, jokes and mock DRS reviews flying faster than a Kohli cover drive.

At the end of the day, it really wasn’t that deep. People are allowed to like good photos—it shouldn’t snowball into a full-blown controversy needing official clarification. And if it truly was a slip, the whole situation is probably more embarrassing for Avneet, who got dragged into a meme storm for literally doing nothing but existing in a nice outfit.
