A LinkedIn user, Prashanth Haridas, has sparked widespread discussion after posting a cryptic message about his prolonged struggle to find a job. He expressed frustration over being ignored by industry leaders and recruiters despite his efforts to secure employment.
Haridas, who has reportedly been unemployed for nearly three years, attached a photo of himself with the words “RIP” written over it. In his post, he thanked LinkedIn and hiring managers for “ghosting” him and making him spend money on self-grooming, only to be ignored.
Acknowledging that his candid expression of frustration might harm his future job prospects, Haridas wrote, “I know with this post none will hire me, no matter how good I am or the recommendations received.”
He also publicly apologized to two individuals, mentioning one by name and suggesting that his inability to secure a job led to the end of his relationship. “I really tried everything and begged, so I could be with you, couldn’t get a job. I’m sorry,” he wrote.
Despite the grim tone of his message, Haridas clarified in a postscript that he was not contemplating suicide. “I’m not gonna kill myself. Have a lot of things to do, cuisines to taste, and places to visit. Just dead, trying to get a job, fix things, and be with the love of my life.”
The post has since gained attention on LinkedIn, drawing reactions from professionals and job seekers alike. Many have commented on the mental and emotional toll of prolonged unemployment, while others debate the effectiveness of such public appeals for help. The post could be April’s fool, however, we went through his profile and it looks like he was trying to get a job for a long time.
As discussions around job search struggles and mental health continue, Haridas’s post highlights the harsh realities faced by many professionals navigating a challenging job market.
